Barði Jóhannsson is an award-winning Icelandic composer, producer, musician and writer, known for his singular blend of melancholic beauty, cinematic atmosphere and genre-defying songwriting.

As the creative force behind Bang Gang, and through collaborations such as Lady & Bird with Keren Ann and Starwalker with Jean-Benoît Dunckel of Air, Barði has built a body of work that moves between intimate songs, electronic textures, orchestral arrangements and shadowy pop landscapes.

His music has travelled widely across film, television, theatre, advertising and contemporary performance. He has scored films including Reykjavík Rotterdam, Would You Rather, De toutes nos forces and Agony and has created music for national theatres, documentaries, TV series, commercials and live cine-concerts. His score for Reykjavík Rotterdam won Best Original Film Score at the Icelandic Edda Awards.

Across records, screen work and stage productions, Barði’s music carries a distinctive emotional signature: elegant, atmospheric, often darkly romantic and mysterious.
