REYKJAVIK ROTTERDAM

Bardi Johannsson won the Icelandic Edda Award for Best Original Music in the movie Reykjavik Rotterdam. He also got a nomination for the Scandinavian Film Music awards for the same score.
The film is a about Kristofer who  is stuck in a dull everyday routine, working as a security guard. He had been fired from the freight ship when he was caught smuggling alcohol from one country to the other. Faced with money problems, he is tempted to accept the help of his friend, Steingrimur, who manages to pull some strings to get his old job back. He decides to take his chances one last time on a tour to Rotterdam.

Reykjavik Rotterdam was remade in the U.S entitled Contraband starring and produced by Mark Wahlberg. The original film’s lead actor, Baltasar Kormákur— a successful director in his own right in his home country of Iceland — took on the role of director of this American remake.
